Awards night will recognize Huntley HS seniors
Huntley High School will hold its Senior Awards Night at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 23 in the Performing Arts Center at the high school, 13719 Harmony Road.
The Awards program showcases seniors’ accomplishments in academics. Students who have received scholarships or special achievement awards, such as Illinois State Scholars and those who have exceeded expectations on the Prairie State Achievement Examination will be honored.
Proposals welcome: McHenry County is requesting proposals from eligible organizations and units of local government that provide transportation and social services for county seniors. The county has funds available in its Senior Services Grant Program for organizations that can aid in preventing the unnecessary institutionalization of the elderly, provide for the operation of and equipment for senior citizen center, provide social services to seniors and provide transportation vehicles or services for seniors.The county will host two informational meetings for organizations interested in applying for the grant funds. Meetings are scheduled for 9 a.m., Wednesday June 8 and 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13. All meetings will be held at the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock.Applications are available at the McHenry County Administration Offices, by calling (815) 334-4214 or online at www.co.mchenry.il.us. Applications are due by the end of business on Aug. 1.Board vacancies: The McHenry County Board is accepting applications to fill two vacancies on the county#146;s Housing Authority Board. The positions are five-year terms that expire on June 1, 2016. Forms are available at the County Board Office, Room 209, McHenry County Government Center, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock or at the county website, www.co.mchenry.il.us. Applications are due no later than 3 p.m. Thursday, June 1. Mailed applications should be sent to McHenry County Board, 2200 N. Seminary Ave, Woodstock, IL 60098. Certified or registered mail is recommended.
