Two Fremd students named Golden Apple Scholars
Fremd High School students Renee Fasanella and Emily Till, both seniors, were named 2011 Golden Apple Scholars by the Golden Apple Foundation.
Each year, thousands of Illinois high school students who are interested in entering the teaching profession are nominated for this distinction, of which just 110 are selected in an intense and competitive process.
In return for the extensive professional, personal and financial support they receive, Golden Apple Scholars must attend an Illinois college or university that participates in the program and agree to teach for five years in an Illinois school of need upon graduation.
The District 211 Board of Education honored its two Golden Apple Scholars at the meeting on May 12.
