Stevenson 10, Warren 8: Stevenson rallied late and upped its record to 23-4 on the season and 10-1 in the North Suburban Lake Division with a victory over a hot-hitting Warren team that blasted 3 home runs.
The Patriots scored 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come back from an 8-6 deficit.
Mike Martin was solid at the plate for Stevenson. He was 3-for-3 on the day, including a double and a triple. Teammate Brandon Waters blasted a home run while Jacob Sholl and Stephen Galanopoulos each had 2 hits.
On the mound, Blake Fiedelman got the win to improve to 4-0 on the season. He went 6 1/3 innings and rolled up 10 strikeouts while giving up just 3 walks. Tyler Radtke got the save.
For Warren, Kevin Colburn, Alex Letto and Caleb Haley each had home runs. Pat Kenney, who took the loss on the mound, had a double for the Blue Devils, who made a rally of their own.
Warren was down 6-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning and scored 6 runs to take a brief 8-6 lead.
Lake Zurich 8, Zion-Benton 3: The Bears rallied from a 3-2 deficit by scoring 6 runs in the sixth inning.
Lake Zurich, which moves to 11-15 (6-8 NSC Lake), rolled up 11 hits on the game, thanks in part to Zach Till and Mitch Tuthill, who had 3 and 2 hits respectively. In the big sixth inning, Tuthill had a 2-RBI double as did Sean Eder.
On the mound, Ben Gullo got the win for the Bears. He rolled up 11 strikeouts and allowed only 2 hits.
Lake Zurich has now won three games in a row and six of its last eight.
Lakes 6, Round Lake 0: Lakes pitchers Jake Wisniewski and Robby Thompson teamed up for a no-hitter and a shutout.
Wisniewski got the win to move to 3-0 on the mound. He went six innings and rolled up 7 strikeouts. Thompson closed out the game in the seventh.
Offensively, the Eagles (16-12, 8-3 NSC Prairie) got 2 hits out of both Kyle Noon and Paul Kukulka. Noon had 2 RBI and also stole 3 bases. Kukulka had a double and an RBI
Antioch 12, North Chicago 0 (5): Winning pitcher Dan Arder rolled up 7 strikeouts and allowed just 1 walk in going the distance in the five-inning game. Joe Gregory, Mitch Everett and Adam Waner each had 2 hits for the Sequoits, who improve to 16-8 (7-4 NSC Prairie) on the season. Both of Waner’s hits were doubles.
Grayslake Central 6, Jacobs 2: The Rams got their revenge.
After losing to Jacobs on Saturday 10-0, Grayslake Central defeated Jacobs on Monday to move to 19-9 on the season.
Senior lefty pitcher Mark Gawinski got his fifth victory of the season by allowing just 1 earned run in 4 2/3 innings of work. He also threw 4 strikeouts.
Reliever Christian Edwards pitched out of a jam in the fifth and Mark Ash closed for the Rams in a scoreless seventh inning.
“Our pitchers did a great job today inducing a lot of ground balls against a solid hitting team with the wind blowing out,” Grayslake Central coach Troy Whalen said. “(Gawinski) did a great job of keeping Jacobs off balance.”
Derek Idstein led the Grayslake Central offense with a triple, double and single.
He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Austin Miller also had a run-scoring double for the Rams.
Grayslake North 5, Johnsburg 3: Carl Russell went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Knights to victory. One of Russell’s hits was a double.
On the mound, Kyle Fosco got the win for Grayslake North, which moves to 10-17 on the season. He rolled up 4 strikeouts and allowed just 2 walks in six innings.
