Police, students promote alcohol awareness in Des Plaines

Members of the Des Plaines Police Department, the Maine Community Youth Assistance Foundation, and Warriors Against Drugs and Alcohol from Maine West High School visited local liquor stores promoting the Sticker Shock Program, initiated by the foundation and endorsed by Des Plaines Mayor Martin J. Moylan, the local liquor commissioner.

The WADA students, under the direction of Maine West High School social worker Daniel Paustian, volunteered to be part of the April Sticker Shock Program, which involved the promotion of alcohol awareness and the ramifications of serving alcohol to underage individuals.

WADA is a student group that promotes a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle. Members participate in various activities and advertising efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of such substances.

Paustian has been involved with WADA for four years. Maine West Fine Arts Department instructor Greg Regalado is the founder of the WADA Program.
