Seven CLC students place at SkillsUSA state competition
Seven students from the College of Lake County recently placed at the Illinois SkillsUSA State Competition, held in Springfield.
Skills USA is a career and technical student organization serving more than 307,000 high school and college students and professional members enrolled in training programs for technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations. The SkillsUSA Championships Contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels.
According to Dr. Tina Ye, SkillsUSA advisor and Computer Aided Design (CAD) instructor, CLC students placed in the following areas: Technical Drafting: 1st place, James Borre (Wauconda); 2nd place, Linda Maki (Zion). Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) Milling: 3rd place, Steven Adler (McHenry). Web Design Teams: 1st place, Lisa Chester (Waukegan) and Sunny Okamoto (Grayslake); 2nd place, Kristie Haylock (Lindenhurst) and Kristin Stoyer (Lake Villa).
The first place winners will compete at the SkillsUSA Nationals in Kansas City in June.
