Huntley’s baseball team managed just 4 hits Friday, falling for the first time in Fox Valley Conference action this season in a 6-2 decision to McHenry.
Craig Klein pitched a 5-hitter for the Red Raiders (15-2, 10-1) but 3 Huntley errors allowed McHenry (13-7, 12-2) to take the win.
Carlos Alvarez had a double and Nick Carpolondo 2 RBI for Huntley.
South Elgin 15, East Aurora 1: The Storm (12-3-1, 7-3-1) rapped out 18 hits in this easy Upstate Eight win. Kenny Lowden (2-for-2, 5 RBI) and Robbie Green (3-for-3, 2B) each had grand slam home runs for South Elgin, while Ryan Ford, Marty Knuth and Nate Garris each added 2 hits. Andrew Weedman picked up his second win of the season on the mound, throwing a 5-inning 1-hitter with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Waubonsie Valley 9, Elgin 5: Lee Jackson and Gage Teschner each had 2 hits and Jake Bartelt hit a 2-run home run but the Maroons (2-11-1, 2-8-1) fell short in Upstate Eight play. Eric Daly was the losing pitcher.
Jacobs 6, Woodstock 1: Henry Gigeous fired a 3-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lead the Golden Eagles (6-10, 5-7) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Mark Self was 4-for-4 with a home run, 2 doubles and 3 RBI for Jacobs, while Nate Andersen had a double and Kevin Hubner drove in a run.
