Naperville church sponsors panel on the role of government in addressing climate change
St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Naperville (1450 Green Trails Drive) is hosting a panel discussion on Tuesday, April 26th at 7:30 pm entitled, “To Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity: Crafting Public Policy to address our Energy Needs and Global Climate Change.” The panel will discuss the role of government and the private sector in addressing these important environmental issues. (see attached flyer)
The two panelists will be Ms. Anne McKibbin, policy director at the Center for Neighborhood Technology – Energy, and Mr. Brian Kasal, State Chairperson for the Illinois Energy Forum. Ms. Mckibbin will take the position that government has a proper and important role in addressing global climate change and our energy future. Mr. Kasal will take the position that we should allow the free market to work out ways of addressing global climate change and our energy needs.
This program is NOT a debate on whether global climate change is real. The program organizers take the position that facing global climate change requires a response, even in a situation with less than full certainty, where the consequences of not acting are serious.
