‘Winnie the Pooh’ visits Schaumburg H.S.

Classic ‘Winnie the Pooh’ plays at Schaumburg High School Friday, Saturday

This weekend, the Schaumburg High School Theatre Department is presenting the children’s show “Winnie the Pooh” in the school’s Carl Weimer Auditorium, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

Open to the public, the show is sure to delight children of all ages. The beloved tale tells the story of the Silly Ol’ Bear searching for honey, getting stuck in Rabbit’s “howse” and saving his best friend Piglet from the terrible fate of — a bath.

All of the timeless A.A. Milne characters come to life onstage through the performance of 20 high school students who interact with the audience as the show progresses.

Senior Liz Humphrey (Rabbit), senior Ryan Wenzel (Pooh Bear), and junior Brittany Tamason (Piglet) lead a cast of talented actors who hop, eat and wiggle their way into the audience’s hearts.

On Wednesday, more than 400 children from the community renewed their love of the classic Pooh as they watched a matinee held especially for them by the school.

Tickets, available at the door, costs $3 for children younger than 12, $5 for students and $7 for adults.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16, with a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday, April 16.
