Chicago Master Singers to perform at Techny chapel

The spring concerts of Chicago Master Singers will feature some of the finest examples of why J.S. Bach, Handel and Mozart are considered the greatest names in choral composition.

CMS, under the direction of Alan Heatherington, will perform with the Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, and at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit (Divine Word), 2001 Waukegan Road, in Techny.

Performances will include three Bach cantatas, as well as Mozart’s Vespers and two of Handel’s coronation anthems. A free preconcert lecture by Dorothy Andries will be offered one hour before each performance.

The chapel is just north of Willow Road in Techny, which is between Northbrook and Glenview.

Tickets are $48 for preferred seating, $38 for general seating and $28 for side seating. Student and senior discounts are available, as well as discounts for groups of 10 or more. Advance reservations are recommended.

Barrington-based CMS is a 130-voice auditioned chorus with singers from Chicago and the suburbs. Both locally and on tour in Europe, CMS has been performing the great choral masterworks in collaboration with professional soloists and orchestras since 1979.

Tickets for all Chicago Master Singers performances are available at chicagomastersingers.org; (800) 595-4849.
