State Trooper injured in crash on I-355

An Illinois State Trooper was injured after spinning out of control and striking a concrete barrier on I-355 Sunday morning, according to authorities,

Police said the trooper was on I-355 just south of Ogden Avenue in Lisle when a second vehicle struck the squad car while changing lanes. The trooper then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a retaining wall, said Illinois State Police Sgt. Julio Serrano.

The trooper suffered a minor head injury and general soreness, but was treated and released from Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Serrano said.

Authorities said the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria did not have its lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash, which occurred at about 10 a.m.

Police estimated the damage to the vehicle at more than $10,000.
