Stevenson students qualify for state science fair

Eight students competed at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Region 6 Fair on March 19 at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, and six earned berths in the IJAS State Science Fair. The state science fair will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign May 6-7.

Stevenson's state science fair qualifiers are Neha Rao, Shavani Thakker, Hannah Schlacter, Andelyn Russell, Jack Hirsch and Rohan Dasika. Russell earned “Best in Category” for her botany project, and Schlacter received the Regional Ricoh Sustainable Development Award. The Ricoh Sustainable Development Award is presented to the student whose research has “demonstrated the principles and technical innovations that offer the greatest potential for sustainable development.”

Shahzadhi Nyakhar and Vishesh Verma also competed at the regional science fair.
