Grayslake Central blanks Grayslake North
Grayslake Central’s girls soccer team got back on track Thursday night, blanking visiting Grayslake North 3-0, as keeper Kat Dickson made 5 saves to record her sixth shutout.
Allie Black, Lauren Labello and Emily Schrader scored for the Rams. Schrader and Savannah Mudd had assists.
“The girls played outstanding.” Grayslake Central coach Mike McCaulou said. “I thought we controlled the ball well all game, and the buildup to all three goals was phenomenal. What a great effort by our Lady Rams in a big (Fox Valley) conference game.”
Grayslake Central (6-1, 2-1) led 1-0 at halftime.
York 3, Lake Zurich 1: Kate Arends scored the host Bears’ lone goal, off an assist from Vanessa Abad, in the Pepsi Showdown game.
Lake Zurich fell to 2-3-1 overall.
Jacobs 1, Mundelein 0 (kicks): Golden Eagles keeper Monica Orjeula stopped 2 shots in the penalty-kick round of the Pepsi Showdown contest.
Jacobs edged the Mustangs 3-2 in penalty kicks to improve to 9-2 overall.
Mundelein fell to 5-1-1.
Chicago Payton 2, Lakes 0: In a Pepsi Showdown match, the Eagles (1-3) surrendered a pair of second-half goals.
Lincoln-Way North 3, Stevenson 1: Lexi Cesario had 2 goals and Amber Huppert added the other for Lincoln-Way North (6-1-1) in the Pepsi Showdown match.
Katie Kresja scored for Stevenson (2-1-2), with Jenna Weiner earning the assist.
