Early childhood forum in Mundelein
Parents, educators, community members, law enforcement officials and legislators will host a forum from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9 in Mundelein to discuss the value and impact of early childhood programs and services. Child poverty is at 11 percent in Lake County and early education has a profound impact on students later in life, according to Lauren Fagel, Mundelein High School principal and forum moderator. Speakers include advocates for children with special needs and Mundelein Police Chief Ray Rose, who will speak about the connection between crime and early education. The event will be held at the Double Tree Hotel, 510 E. Route 83 and is organized by the Early Childhood Advocates Alliance.
