Vernon Hills handles Antioch in 2
Martin Niemczewski and Justin Opitz each had 6 kills, and Thomas Robinson added five, as Vernon Hills’ boys volleyball team defeated Antioch 25-10, 25-13 in its North Suburban Conference opener Wednesday night.
Vernon Hills improved to 7-2 overall with its seventh straight win.
Antioch fell to 0-2 in the NSC.
Joseph Ho set 26 of 26 with 13 assists for Vernon Hills, while he and Robinson each had 4 blocks. Mikey Kelly served 3 aces and added 4 kills for the Cougars.
Lake Zurich d. Lakes: A balanced hitting attack led the Bears to a 26-24, 25-23 win in their North Suburban opener.
Lake Zurich (3-4) received 3 kills apiece from Chris Carmody, James Conlon, Tom Doherty, Coulton Every and Kyle Miller. Jeremy Anderson was 53-of-56 setting with 15 assists.
Stevenson d. North Chicago: Nik Antonijevic slammed 6 kills for the Patriots, who won their North Suburban opener 25-9, 25-13.
Mitch Robinson delivered 5 aces and Zachary Kravits served three. Kravits also set 14 of 14 with 10 assists.
Jonah May was 18-of-18 setting with 6 assists for Stevenson (4-2).
Warren d. Deerfield: Dillon Schaefer had 6 kills and 3 blocks, and Eduard Ciobanu added 5 kills and 2 blocks, as the Blue Devils won the nonconference match 25-23, 26-24.
Warren also received 5 blocks from Sean O’Connor and 12 assists from Tyler Smith. Drew Crawford contributed 3 kills, 2 blocks and 4 digs.
