Newcomers Price, Rising join Bradshaw in Dist. 204
Two newcomers were elected to the Indian Prairie Unit District 204 school board Tuesday night, and one of two incumbents running was voted out.
Board President Curt Bradshaw kept his seat, while Vice President Alka Tyle lost hers. Also elected were Lori Price, a stay-at-home mom, and Mark Rising, a software sales manager.
Five candidates ran for three, 4-year terms, including Bradshaw, Tyle, Price, Rising and another newcomer, Tricia Tillotson, a part-time District 204 employee.
With votes counted in all 31 precincts Tuesday, unofficial results show winners Bradshaw with 2,974 votes, Price with 2,406 votes and Rising with 2,099 votes, while Tyle has 1,941 votes and Tillotson 1,599 votes.
Tyle, currently the board’s vice president, was appointed to the board in 2006 and elected to her first term in 2007.
Among the issues ahead for Bradshaw, a board member since 2005, and Price and Rising is what to do with the district’s $8 million budget surplus; all have said they favor saving it for a rainy day.
Incumbent Mark Metzger, first elected to the board in 1991, announced in December he would not be seeking a sixth term.
Indian Prairie Unit District 204 serves parts of Aurora, Bolingbrook, Naperville and Plainfield.
