Boys volleyball/Fox Valley roundup

Trevor Aguiniga and Jake Mendel put down 7 kills each Tuesday night to lead the South Elgin boys volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-23 win over Streamwood in Upstate Eight Conference crossover action.

Sean Saxton had 6 kills for the Storm, while Pedro Gonzalez had 4. Mendel added 6 digs and Matt Gill had 5 for the winners. Nick Pawlowski had 13 assists and Gill 11.

Phil Montero had 33 assists for Streamwood, while Vikas Tailor had 3 kills and Kevin Rosas 9 digs.

Bartlett d. Geneva: Russell Martin had 5 kills, 2 digs and an ace as the Hawks opened the season with a 25-8, 25-17 UEC crossover win over Geneva. David Upp had 3 kills, 7 aces and 7 digs for Bartlett, while Dan Esmail added 10 assists and 6 digs.

Waubonsie Valley d. Elgin: Zayya Oshana had 6 kills and 2 blocks to lead Elgin in its 25-16, 25-15 UEC crossover loss. Angel Hernadez added 2 digs and 6 assists for the Maroons.

Willowbrook d. Larkin: Stephen Dominguez had 4 digs and 3 kills and Matt Harris added 5 assists but Larkin fell to Willowbrook 25-11, 25-14 in nonconference action Monday night. The Royals also lost a UEC crossover to Lake Park on Tuesday, 25-9, 25-19.
