Brown, Hofman honorable mention all-state

Elgin junior Kory Brown and Jacobs senior Nick Hofman were named to the Class 4A honorable mention all-state team announced Associated Press on Wednesday.

Brown, a 6-foot-4 forward who was also named the honorary captain of the Daily Herald All-Area team in the Fox Valley, averaged 16.1 points, 1.7 blocked shots, 2.7 steals, 2.9 assists and 8.3 rebounds, according to the AP. He shot 52 percent from the field for a team that finished 22-7, won the Upstate Eight River and a Class 4A regional.

Hofman, a 6-3 guard, averaged 18.3 points per game, 2.1 steals, 1.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds. He shot 56 percent from 2-point range and 32 percent from 3-point range for a team that finished 16-13.

Named Class 4A first-team all-state were Ryan Boatright (East Aurora), Jabari Parker (Simeon), Nnanna Egwu (St. Ignatius), Mike Shaw (DeLaSalle) and Sam Thompson (Whitney Young).
