For Hawthorn Dist. 73: Bard, Comitor, Jay, Tran

Daily Herald Editorial Board

Six candidates are seeking the four four-year spots on the Hawthorn Elementary School District 73 school board on April 5. Four incumbents Jeffrey Bard, Michelle Comitor, Lisa Jay and Jayson Tran are on top of the district’s financial matters and are working to keep the high quality of education intact. All agree that the unity and communication between board members and the administration are solid. Challengers Matt Napierkowski and Cristopher Nolan are offering fresh ideas. Napierkowski has volunteered in the classroom, PTO and the community and feels that his experience will bring a new perspective to the board. Nolan, a current law student, has a primary goal of representing students. He is aware of the issues and would like to see greater teacher accountability. Because of the overall performance of the current board and the incumbents’ continued commitment to students, teachers, staff and tax payers, the Daily Herald endorses Bard, Comitor, Jay and Tran.
