For Dist. 23 board: Botwinski, Bowes, Hess, Peters

Prospect Heights Elementary District 23 board members cut more than $1 million, approved grade level centers and outlined $1.5 million more in cuts. That all sparked controversy, and now three newcomers join four incumbents in seeking four seats. All the candidates genuinely want to help. George Bouris, of Prospect Heights, has experience as a mechanical engineer designing schools that could be help any board. James Bednar, of Prospect Heights, asks important questions. Andrew Welter, of Arlington Heights, wonders why some programs were added as cuts loomed. Are the incumbents perfect? No one is, and communication always can be better. Still, Carol Botwinski, Jeff Bowes and David Hess, all of Arlington Heights, and Mari-Lynn Peters, of Wheeling, made tough votes thoughtfully in the face of public outcry. They have the perspective and experience to make the tough calls to come and are endorsed.
