On Monday, Feb. 28, the Board of Commissioners for the Addison Park District presented an award from the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association to Angel Carerras for outstanding volunteerism. This award recognizes individuals who have shown outstanding dedication, enthusiasm, and community spirit.

Over the past two years, Carraras has volunteered extensively with both the girls' basketball program giving generously of his personal time and talent. This year he will be coaching swimming also.

According to Kim Jay, athletics supervisor, “This is Angel's second year coaching the third/fourth grade girls' basketball team. The team didn't have a great record last year, however this year they are league contenders competing for a spot in the top three. Angel gives freely of his personal time by scheduling extra practices whenever gym space becomes available. He is very dedicated to the girls and the program and passionate about what he does.”
