Crystal Lake Central student charged in stabbing
A 16-year-old male student was arrested Friday on charges he stabbed another student with a pair of scissors at Crystal Lake Central High School.
The victim, also a 16-year-old male, told school officials he had been stabbed in the right shoulder during a science class Thursday. There were several witnesses who confirmed the victim's story, Crystal Lake police said.
The victim received treatment from the school nurse for a small puncture wound to his back, but did not have to be transported to a hospital. He was released to a parent, police said.
Officers went to the suspect's Lakewood house Friday afternoon, and say he fled on foot. Police caught up with him and took him into custody.
He was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery, and is being held at the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center. He will appear before a juvenile court judge Monday at the McHenry County Court House.
