Huntley, Sun City bands in concert

On Thursday, March 3, the Huntley High School bands and the Sun City Concert Band will present the fourth annual “Festival of Music” at 7 p.m. at the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road.

This is the fourth year the two bands have combined in a special concert for the Huntley community.

The Huntley High School Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony and Concert Band will each perform selections. The Sun City Concert Band will present two numbers. Huntley High School Concert Band, together with the Sun City Concert Band, will present three selections. The program offers a variety of musical styles.

The event is free, but donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the Huntley High School band program. Last year, the donations totaled $1,185 to which the Sun City Band added another $1,000.

The Sun City Concert Band also presented its first scholarship to Casey Sukel, a Huntley High School Band member, in the amount of $500. This year’s scholarship recipient will be announced at the March 3 concert.
