Des Plaines parks help residents go green

The Des Plaines Park District will offer residents three ways to reduce, reuse and recycle this spring. From 8 a.m.-noon March 12, the park district, DEEP Green (Des Plaines Environmental and Energy Program), the Des Plaines department of public works and Acme Refining are sponsoring free electronics recycling at the Public Works facility, 1111 Joseph J. Schwab (Campground) Road. The 4th annual Earth Day Youth Fair will be held 1-4 p.m. April 23 at the West Park Field house, 651 S. Wolf Road. The park district also offers recycling classes for children and adults; spring class registration begins March 7. For details on these programs, call (847) 391-5711 or visit mydeepgreen.org and DPParks.org.
