Concert band performs at The Mac March 6

The DuPage Community Concert Band, under the leadership of director Terry Redford, will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, on the McAninch Arts Center Mainstage at the College of DuPage Glen Ellyn Campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The concert band's program, “Composers Named Barnes,” includes “Incantation & Dance” and “Variations on a Korean Folk Song” by James Barnes Chance, and “Movements II, III, IV of Symphony No. 3” by James Barnes.

The DuPage Community Concert Band is a course offered to all high school graduates with woodwind, brass or percussion experience. Band members play two concerts per semester.

Terry Redford became band director in 2007, following the retirement of Mark Hengesh. Redford has a master's degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago and is director of bands at Lemont Township High School. He has performed as a professional trombonist with the CYO Bands, the VanderCook College Band, DePaul University Band, Elmhurst College Band, the Elmhurst Symphony, the DuPage Symphony, the West Suburban Symphony and the Brass Tracks Jazz Orchestra.
