Spots still open for Cary Grove showcase
There are still a few spots open to participate in the 29th annual Cary Grove Community Showcase coming up Saturday, March 5, in Cary.
The event is designed to showcase businesses, community agencies, municipal services and churches from Cary and Fox River Grove, said Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Suzanne Corr. Local officials also participate, especially in election years such as this one, she added.
“It’s a way for people to really find out about all the resources they have access to in their own backyard,” Corr said.
There will be nearly 100 booths set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the gym of Cary Grove High School, at 2208 Three Oaks Road. Regular booths are $300 for members and $600 for nonmembers, Corr said. Nonprofits get a discount with booths at $225.
The event will also feature a free “Save on Everything!” coupon-saving session by Jill Cataldo, a Chicago-based coupon expert. The session, from 11 a.m. to noon, will focus on how to save on everything from clothing to household items, Corr said. Space is limited so people should register in advance.
The third annual Cary Grove’s Got Talent competition, open to kids ages 8 to 18, will also take place during the Community Showcase. Past acts included singing, dancing and musical performances by guitarists and pianists, Corr said. Acts must be less than three minutes and can feature up to five people.
Talent show winners in the 8- to 12-year-old and 13- to 18-year-old categories will have a chance to perform in the Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove business scholarship pageant May 21. Applications are available at carygrovechamber.com.
