Attend volunteer session Feb. 26 for LivingWell's walk/run

Believe it or not, spring is around the corner, which means it's almost time for LivingWell Cancer Resource Center's sixth annual Bridge Walk.

As one of the fastest growing events in Kane County, Bridge Walk raises awareness and funds for LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those touched by cancer.

The 5K Walk and Celebration Walk will take place the morning of Saturday, May 14 at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva.

In order to put on this event, the center is seeking community volunteers to step up and participate.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, the center will hold an information and registration session for: past team captains; new team captains; volunteers; sponsors; and past and new participants (team members, walkers), as well as other interested parties that would like to get involved with the Bridge Walk

The meeting will feature complimentary food and refreshments as well as an informational session that will get participants energized about the Bridge Walk.

Attendees will also learn some valuable tools to be successful in their fundraising and team solicitation efforts. Prior to the meeting, those interested in participating should take time to talk with family, friends, and co-workers to encourage them to participate in this walk.

Attendees should RSVP by Friday, Feb. 25 by calling Susan or Jen at (630) 262-1111 or e-mailing info@livingwellcrc.org.

LivingWell Cancer Resource Center believes that treating the whole person, not just the illness, is the key to coping with and battling cancer. It offers counseling, networking and support groups for patients and families, educational classes and seminars, and mind and body classes, including pilates, yoga, massage, and laughter therapy. The organization hosts the annual Bridge Walk to raise funds so it can continue to offer all of these services free of charge.

The Bridge Walk will include a Celebration Walk for cancer survivors, live music, refreshments, and children's activities. The event begins at 7 a.m., rain or shine.
