Palatine High to host spring craft fair
The Palatine High School VIP Booster Club presents the Spring Craft Fair from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Palatine High School, 1111 Rohlwing Road, in Palatine. Admission is free, and plenty of free parking is available for attendees.
This annual event regularly attracts 1,000 craft aficionados, who visit the more than 100 crafters displaying their wares.
Not just a craft fair, the day includes a variety of events. Raffles are held throughout the day, including a grand raffle cash prize of $1,000. The Booster Club After the Prom committee is holding its annual bake sale to raise funds for a safe and fun student event, a cruise on Lake Michigan, to follow prom festivities in May. And for those looking to stock up on Palatine Pirate gear, the Pirate Treasures school store will be open as well.
Funds raised at the craft fair provide support for a variety of programs for Palatine High School students including Palatine’s Promise, I-Compete, STRIDE, Commit to the Pirate, Best Buddies, Peer Mediation, TRUST, Trick-or-Treat with Pirate Pete, a safe and fun After-the-Prom event and the senior scholarship fund.
In addition, staff members at Palatine High School are encouraged to apply for teacher mini-grants. Grants were given this year to the following departments to support the education of Palatine High School students: Physical Education, Social Studies, Applied Tech, Art, Athletics, Family and Consumer Sciences, Student Services, Special Education, Health Education, and the Music Department.
Exhibit applications for interested crafters are still being accepted. Booth space is just $55 for the basic package, with additional fees for tables and electricity.
