Named GOP spokesman on revenue and finance committee

State Rep. David Harris has been appointed the Republican spokesman on the Revenue & Finance Committee in the Illinois House. The panel considers most legislation related to the sources of tax revenue for the state, like the individual income tax, the sales tax, the corporate income tax and the public utility tax. Technically, Harris is counted as a House freshman, but because he served five terms in the House in the 1980s and 1990s he is given more senior status among Republicans. “I appreciate that Representative Tom Cross, the House Republican Leader, understood my interest and capability in the area of State revenue,” Harris said Monday, “and I plan to be a strong Republican voice on the panel.”
