Girls basketball/Fox Valley roundup
Amanda Patterson scored 16 points and the Streamwood girls basketball team jumped out to a 36-20 halftime lead then cruised to a 59-37 nonconference win over Burlington Central Tuesday night.
“We got off to a great start and played an outstanding first half. It was a nice start to a tough week,” said Streamwood coach George Rosner, whose team plays South Elgin tonight, Geneva Thursday, Batavia Friday and St. Charles East Saturday.
Emma Schmidt added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Sabres (18-4), while Michelle Tomczak had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 blocked shots.
Jessica Laird had a career night for the Rockets (11-15), scoring a game-high 16 points. Alli Settanni added 8 points for BC.
St. Charles East 48, Dundee-Crown 42: Carlin Faulkner scored 13 points and had 6 rebounds and Diamond Williams added 13 points and 10 boards but Dundee-Crown (9-17) couldn’t come up with a nonconference win in St. Charles. Dana Ewert added 8 points for D-C.
Huntley 44, Johnsburg 37: The Red Raiders tuned up for Thursday’s nonconference showdown with No. 3 Bartlett by beating Johnsburg in a Fox Valley Conference crossover. CeCe Tsevas led the Red Raiders (18-7) with 16 points, while Rachel Chapius added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Brie Roeser had 7 points for Huntley.
Lake Park 63, Larkin 29: Maggie Hoffman had 11 points and Tori Patterson added 8 for Larkin (3-20) in this Upstate Eight crossover loss.
Women’s basketball
ECC 60, Prairie State 55: Cassie Dumoulin, who was named Division II/District K Player of the Week last week, scored 26 points, Gen Johnson added 14 and Dijon Smith had 13 points and 16 rebounds as ECC outlasted Prairie State in an ISCC game.
