Mundelein High artists display their work

Mundelein High School will host three simultaneous events on Thursday, Feb. 3, — an art show, winter play and senior dinner. All are open to the public.

The annual Advanced Placement Art Show will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in and around the MHS cafeteria. Current AP Art students will exhibit their artwork in a variety of media ranging from drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, metal smithing and digital media. Food and music will be part of the evening and the artists will be available during the show. The event is free.

The evening will also include opening night of the winter play, “And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank.” The show is a unique multimedia play that combines videotaped interviews with Holocaust survivors Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss with live actors re-creating scenes from their lives during World War II. Directed by Jonathan Meier, the play will continue on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4 and 5. Performance begin at 7 p.m. all three nights. Ticket prices are a recommended donation of $5 for students and seniors and $7 for adults. Tickets will be available at the door.

Seniors who live in District 120 who have made reservations will be treated to a complimentary dinner at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 as part of the Super Seniors Program sponsored by the Interact Club.

Several times throughout each school year, seniors are the guests at a dinner and a high school event such as a play, concert, sporting event and others. Joan Hornby is the Interact adviser.

While reservations are no longer being taken for the Feb. 3 dinner, another is scheduled for the opening evening of the Spring Musical, “Once on This Island,” set for Thursday, April 28. Reservations for that dinner will be taken from March 30 through April 21. Interested seniors may call (847) 949-2200, ext. 1266, to make reservations.

Mundelein High School is located at 1350 W. Hawley St. in Mundelein.
