Wheeling HS administrator new Rolling Meadows HS principal
Rolling Meadows High School will have a new principal as of July 1 — Eileen M. Hart, the English Language Learners/Social Science/World Languages division head at Wheeling High School.
In other administrative moves, Joseph F. Greene Jr., associate principal of instruction at Rolling Meadows High School, will become associate principal of Elk Grove High School; and Carmel K. Glarner, associate principal of operations of Elk Grove High School, will become associate principal of operations at Wheeling High School.
All appointments are effective July 1.
Hart will replace Principal Charles Johns, who will move this summer to become director of alternative programs for Northwest Suburban High School District 214.
A District 214 news release says Hart has been in her current position since 2007, during which she trained new teachers on how to instruct Advanced Placement U.S. History, resulting in an average success rates of 82 percent while keeping a 97 percent student retention rate. She restructuring the Native Speaker Spanish program and coordinated the addition of AP Spanish Literature.
She also serves as the ESL coordinator and was the summer school principal in 2010.
“Eileen's demonstrated ability to move forward instructional improvement initiatives makes her a strong and effective instructional leader,” said Superintendent David R. Schuler. “She has the respect of her peers, and I am looking forward to continued student improvement at Rolling Meadows.”
Having spent her entire career at Wheeling High School, Hart started in 1989 as a special education assistant and five years later became a social studies teacher. She was an Upward Bound instructor, the girls athletic director, and most recently the English Language Learners/Social Science/World Languages division head.
“Eileen brings energy and an impressive array of successful programs that are focused on student academic improvement,” said Board President Bill Dussling. “Her proven track record of dynamic and innovative leadership gives her well-founded enthusiastic confidence in her vision to improve student success.”
Hart has been on numerous committees and has been both a head and assistant women's basketball coach, assistant men's and women's volleyball coach and junior and sophomore class sponsor.
“I have had so many amazing opportunities while working in District 214,” said Hart. “Being named principal is humbling, exciting and a leadership position that I feel passionate about accepting.
“There are so many positive, academic and co-curricular experiences taking place at Rolling Meadow High School. I look forward to collaborating with staff and the administrative team to lead additional support systems and innovative programs that promote student academic growth and excellence.”
A Lake Zurich resident, Hart has a bachelor's of art degree in history and political science from Jamestown College in North Dakota and master degrees in educational school leadership and special education from Northeastern Illinois University.
