Robert Knar picked up where he left off at the Jacobs holiday tournament.
Mundelein’s sharpshooting sophomore poured in a career-high 33 points, as the Mustangs opened the tourney with an 87-63 win over Elk Grove on Saturday.
In Mundelein’s final game at Jacobs last year, Knar scored 32 points.
Against Elk Grove, Knar sank 13 shots, including four 3-pointers, and went 3 of 3 from the foul line. He scored 6 points in the first quarter, seven in the second, five in the third and 15 in the fourth. He made a trio of 3s in the final quarter.
Ryan Sawvell scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half for Mundelein (8-2), which led 52-38 after three quarters and then outscored the Grenadiers 35-25 in the fourth.
