Travelocity awards additional star to Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare

The Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Conference Center (www.CrownePlazaOHare.com), 5440 N. River Rd., has received an additional ratings “star” from online travel agency Travelocity (www.Travelocity.com), and is now a four-star rated property.

Travelocity assigns its hotel star ratings – from one (lowest) to five (highest) -- based on its own research, according to the company's web site. Travelocity describes four-star rated hotels as superior properties “with a high level of service and hospitality as well as wide variety of amenities and upscale facilities. A well-integrated design, stylized room décor, excellent restaurant facilities, and landscaped grounds are all present. The comfort and convenience of the guest is the staff's prevailing concern.”

“The additional star confirms that we've done things right over the last three years, as we completely transformed the hotel,” said David M. Friedman, president of CPO Hospitality and F&F Realty, which has owned and managed it since 2007. “Some of the major projects we executed included renovating and upgrading all 503 guest rooms and suites, remodeling the ballrooms and boardrooms, adding a business center, and improving the food and beverage options by offering better quality and more variety.”

Hotel highlights include:

• Guest rooms and suites with handcrafted custom furniture, seven layers of comfort bedding, high-end fixtures and finishes, plus amenities including a refrigerator, in-room safe that accommodates a laptop computer, cordless telephone, 32-inch flat-screen HD television, wireless high-speed internet access and Roomlinx interactive entertainment solution.

• Upscale casual dining restaurant The Chicago Fire Oven (www.chicagofireoven.com), one of the few independently owned restaurants among O'Hare area hotels. The name reflects the stone hearth oven that serves as its focal point, and which yields many of its signature menu items, including thin-crust pizzas, steaks, burgers, and house-roasted tomato-based pasta sauces.

• The 23,500-square-foot O'Hare International Ballroom – one of the largest column-free rooms in the O'Hare area – and the newer, more intimate 2,200-square-foot Balmoral Ballroom.

• Two 16-seat executive boardrooms, plus an 8-seat Boardroom Express – the latter rentable by the hour 24/7 for those seeking a professional, private setting for interviews, board meetings, depositions or similar activities

• A business center with five computer-outfitted workstations, a printer, scanner/copier and plenty of plush seating for laptop users.

With its prime location just 1.5 miles from O'Hare International Airport, across from the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, and adjacent to the Rosemont Theater, the hotel regularly hosts training sessions, conferences and trade shows in many industries, as well as religious gatherings, self-help seminars, dance competitions, and weddings.

The hotel offers a variety of packages and discounts, including special offers for government services employees (includes active and retired military), seniors, guests traveling with pets, and a Park, Stay and Fly package for travelers seeking parking, lodging and airport transportation in conjunction with round-trip flights out of O'Hare.
