Vernon Hills' Tran sparkles

Barrington edged Vernon Hills in team points, 129.4 to 122.25, but that couldn't take away from the impressive performance delivered by Alli Tran of Vernon Hills on an individual level in girls gymnastics on Monday.

Tran won the all-around competition, taking first place in all categories: the vault (9.3), uneven bars (9.2), balance beam (8.75) and floor exercise (9.45) for the host Cougars.

Meanwhile, Sarah Lopez also had a good night for the Cougars. She took second in the all-around, placing second in the vault (9.1), uneven bars (8.5) and balance beam (8.5) and third in the floor exercise (8.9).
