Crystal Lake man gets boot camp for drug charge
A 26-year-old Crystal Lake man was sentenced this week to the Cook County Sheriff's Department boot camp in exchange for pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge.
Jerod Culleeney, of the 6000 block of Smith Road, originally was charged with a class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
Authorities say Culleeney sold a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine, to an undercover Schaumburg police officer earlier this year at the Streets of Woodfield.
Boot camp consists of 18 weeks of military-style physical training, counseling, vocational training and educational assistance, followed by an eight-month post release supervision.
Prosecutors amended the charge to a misdemeanor in exchange for his guilty plea. The court also ordered Culleeney to play $2,765 in fines.
