Blame schools for your tax increases
If you want a good candidate to blame for the excessive tax increases in townships of Schaumburg, Elk Grove and Barrington, look no further than Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211.
Last month, an official there stated that District 211 has no fiscal problem since property values in his area of taxation have risen .94 percent in the last year. Surprise, most residential, commercial/industrial properties have declined between 23 and 26 percent in the past two years. In the past two weeks, the board approved a 3.1 percent tax levy increase due to a 2.7 percent rate of inflation.
The U.S. Postal Service board rejected an increase in first class stamps due to negative rate of inflation in 2009. Also, no Social Security recipient received an increase this year due to same data.
The district plays fast and loose with mathematical and statistical data. Is it any wonder that our students also cannot register in the top 50 high schools when our teachers register third in salaries in the state?
This whole administration is basically clueless, and hope we the taxpayers are also. The solution is to vote out any present board member as they come up for re-election.
