Co-Op Aquatic Foundation to Present Check to Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education

At tomorrow night's Board of Education Meeting, the Co-Op Aquatic Foundation will present a check totaling $6,000 to the Community Unit School District 200's Board of Education to cover the rental fees for the District's boys and girls swim teams.

The Co-Op Aquatic Foundation , a 501 (c) (3) Corporation, was established in Sept 2010 in order to raise money to pay for pool rental fees per the agreement with the CUSD 200 Board of Education to maintain the activities of the Wheaton Co-Op Swim and Dive.

The Co-Op Aquatic Foundation set a goal of raising $12,000 for the 2010 – 2011 school year. To date, the swimmers and divers have raised $11,600 through a raffle, swim-a-thon, and car decal sales. This fall, 57 girls participated in the program and 10 girls represented the team at the State Meet 11/19 – 11/20. The boys' season began on 11/22. There are 42 boys participating- the largest number since the team began in 2000.

According to Cindy Hummel, Co-Op Aquatic Foundation Treasurer, “everyone gets to swim; that's the beauty of the swim team. No one is sitting on the bench. This is the largest boys swim team ever. We are grateful that the school board has let us have this opportunity and are so proud of the fundraising accomplishments.”

If anyone would like to make a contribution to the team, financial contributions are welcome. To make a contribution, please send all donations to Matt Fisher, Athletic Director at Wheaton North High School, 701 W. Thomas Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187.
