Last year: 17-11, 8-6, third in the DuPage Valley Conference; lost to Proviso West 57-56 in Class 4A West Chicago regional final.

Top players: Claire Monroe, jr., G; Mary Connolly, sr., F; Jordan Nickelson, sr., F; Liz Reyes, jr., G; Taylor Ballek, sr., C; Allie Tapanes, jr., G; Meagan Radloff, sr., G; Amber Del Rio, sr., C.

Scouting report: Wallner’s best teams at West Chicago featured plenty of balance. This Wildcats team seems to fit the bill. Despite losing four starters Wallner doesn’t expect to take a step back. Monroe, who averaged 11 points per game last year, returns for her third varsity season. Connolly is in good basketball shape and should be a significant post presense. Six-footer Nickelson is a good shooter who could present matchup problems. Radloff, signed with Eastern Illinois for soccer, should draw the assignment of checking the opponent’s best player. Ballek, Del Rio and Tapanes all were on West Chicago’s DVC-winning JV team last year.
