Rauschenberger waiting on Monday's count

The race for the 22nd state Senate District is still undecided with the last of the provisional ballots expected to be counted Monday, former State Sen. Steve Rauschenberger said Sunday.

Rauschenberger, an Elgin Republican, is challenging incumbent Democrat Michael Noland, also of Elgin, for the seat that covers Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, South Elgin and Streamwood.

As of Saturday afternoon, fewer than 500 votes separated the candidates.

Noland was elected to the seat four years ago after Rauschenberger chose to run for lieutenant governor instead for re-election.
