November Hometown Hero

U.S. Marine Corps Pvt. Luis Huaracha is the Round Lake Area Exchange Club's Hometown Hero for November. Huaracha is a 2010 Grayslake North High School graduate and lives in Round Lake Beach.

The Exchange Club's Americanism Hometown Hero project chairwoman, Sherry Ridge, said Huaracha came home for a few days after basic training and is now back with the Marines in California. She said his sister, Laura, submitted his name for the monthly recognition. Ridge said

Huaracha's “Hanging with the Heroes” care package will be filled with potato chips, pretzels, popcorn, candy and letters from Round Lake Area Unit District 116 students. All military personnel serving overseas or in the United States from any of the Round Lake towns, Hainesville, Fox Lake or Ingleside are eligible for the program.
