Voters say no to Grafton town hall
Grafton Township:A plan to borrow $3 million to erect a new town hall in Grafton Township was shot down by voters Tuesday by a ratio of more than 5 to 1.With all 31 precincts reporting, unofficial results show the referendum question has no 9,721 votes compared to 1,774 yes votes.Months of infighting and costly legal bills preceded the ballot question. Township officials who wanted the new building withdrew their support for the referendum, claiming opponents rigged the process to get the outcome they prefer.Even if the tax increase passed, it likely still would have had to go to another annual electors meeting next spring to become official.
