Scouting Plainfield North at Glenbard West

No. 7 Plainfield North (7-2) at No. 2 Glenbard West (8-1)

Class 7A

Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.

Tigers fast fact: Fifth season of varsity competition.

Hilltoppers fast fact: First-round winner in last four appearances.

Outlook: No player in the state has been more explosive than Tigers running back Kapri Bibbs, a Colorado State recruit who has rushed for 2,600 yards and 37 touchdowns. Last week he carried the ball 56 times for nearly 400 yards. On Oct. 1 he rushed for 520 yards against Oswego. Bibbs is the obvious focal point of Glenbard West's defense, which allowed 165 yards to Lyons Twp. running back Jaime Jones the most rushing yards Glenbard West has allowed to a back in three years, according to Hilltoppers coach Chad Hetlet. The Hilltoppers are regrouping from last week's loss to the Lions, and it starts defensively with lineman Tommy Schutt, linebacker Beau Warden and safety Mike Laning. With quarterback Mike Matthew out because of an injury backup, Daver Glawe, who led the team to a big win over York, takes over behind center. The running tandem of Nick Burrello and Kendall Johnson, which has rushed for a combined 1,400 yards, also looks to get back on track.

Advancement: Winner advances to play the winner between No. 6 Thornton (7-2) and No. 3 Lincoln-Way East (8-1).
