Say goodbye to Koehler

Metra train stations are sprouting like mushrooms around Crystal Lake while Lake in the Hills, Huntley, and Marengo have no commuter rail service.

Metra has agreed to purchase a 17-acre site for the proposed Ridgefield station north of Crystal Lake for $1.54 million, or about $81,800 per acre. County Board Chairman Ken Koehler is an owner of that land.

The purchase agreement for Koehler's property took place after Metra Executive Director Phil Pagano dropped a three-year negotiation with a neighboring land owner for less acreage and for less money (about $70,000 per acre).

Ken Koehler has enriched himself enough at taxpayers' expense. It's time for him to go.
