50th House money reports in
Incumbent state Rep. Kay Hatcher once again has the lead in raising money for her campaign to retain her seat in the 50th House District, according to financial records filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Hatcher, of Yorkville, faces Democrat Linda Healy of Aurora on Nov. 2. The district includes Kendall County and southwestern Kane County.
The committees are required to itemize all donations of $150 or more (individual or aggregate) and expenditures of more than $150.
According to a D-2 Pre-Election Report, which was due Oct. 18, the Friends of Kay Hatcher Committee has received $27,145 in cash from individuals, transfers in from political action committees and miscellaneous receipts from July 1 to Oct. 3.
It also received an in-kind donation of $6,197 from Rich Harvest Farms Golf Course for a campaign fundraiser held at the course, and $500 from the Illinois Agricultural Association Political Involvement Fund for food.
There were 45 itemized individual contributors; the largest donors were Altria Client Services, James Michels of Sugar Grove and John Shaw of Yorkville, who each donated $1,000. Altria Client Services is a subsidiary of Altria, providing government affairs services for fellow subsidiaries such as cigarette manufacturer Phillip Morris USA and Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. Michels founded Engineering Enterprises Inc. of Sugar Grove. Shaw is retired.
The largest PAC donors were Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois, with $2,000, and the Illinois State Medical Society, with $1,000. That organization also donated another $1,000 on Oct. 19, according to state records.
On the spending side, Friends of Kay Hatcher made a non-itemized transfer out of $375.
Healy's D-2 Pre-Election Report says Friends of Linda Healy received $7,409 during the same time period, all of it in non-itemized individual contributions. It had non-itemized expenses of $1,809.
Healy's committee filed its report three days late. This summer, it filed its semiannual financial report 12 days late. The chairman of the committee, in a letter to the state board, said that the campaign treasurer had “misread” the due date and that the committee “would adhere to published deadlines more diligently in the future.”
