Scouting Schaumburg at Hoffman Estates
Schaumburg (6-2, 3-1) at Hoffman Estates (1-7, 1-3)
When: 7:30 p.m. today at Dennis Garber Stadium
Last week: Schaumburg d. Palatine 35-28; Hoffman d. Conant 17-14
Outlook: Schaumburg is shooting for at least a share of the MSL West title and better playoff positioning. And coach Mark Stilling likes the challenge of facing a Hoffman team that will be flying high after snapping a 23-game losing streak on Niko Crambes' 38-yard field goal at the horn. “If you didn't know any better watching film you'd think they're playing next week, too,” Stilling said. “The last two weeks offensively they haven't been making silly mistakes to kill drives and they've been finishing drives.” With LB-RB Jermaine Moore leading the way, Hoffman looks to build off last week against Schaumburg RB Shepard Little (1,481 yards, 18 TDs) and QB Mark Iannotti (1,662 total yards, 15 TDs). “They're excited and they want to be able to show they can do this consistently,” said Hoffman coach Bill Helzer. “The Barrington game (17-6 loss) showed flashes and they want to go out on a positive note.” Schaumburg has won the last 11 meetings to lead the series 24-11.
