State House Dist. 65: Mulligan

In Illinois' 65th House District, voters will choose between 18-year Republican incumbent Rosemary Mulligan and newcomer Democrat Wendy Gruen, both from Des Plaines.

Echoing a rallying cry among legislative candidates, both want to help solve the state's fiscal crisis first and foremost.

Gruen has a solid financial background and good ideas. And some may think that after 18 years, it's time for Mulligan to move on.

However, Mulligan still demonstrates the passion and steadfast independence that bolster her years of experience. She plays a valuable role on the House Human Services Appropriations Committee, and stresses that a tax increase isn't necessarily part of the state's budget solution.

We encourage her to return to Springfield with a spirit of nonpartisan teamwork and an eye on further ethics and pension reforms.
