Deerfield Road to close

Deerfield Road in Riverwoods will be closed to through traffic from Route 21/45 to Saunders Road for four days beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, while workers install a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Des Plaines River.

The bridge is part of a new bicycle and pedestrian path south of Deerfield Road from the Lake County Forest Preserve's Des Plaines River Trail to Thornmeadow Road. The work is included in a larger plan to extend a multiuse path east to Saunders Road.

Local traffic will be allowed on Deerfield Road from Milwaukee Avenue to the Deerfield Road Bridge over the Des Plaines River and from the bridge east to Saunders Road.

The Deerfield Road bridge will be closed to all traffic. The detour route is Lake Cook Road to Saunders Road.
