Scouting Rolling Meadows at Buffalo Grove
Rolling Meadows (3-3, 1-1) at Buffalo Grove (3-3, 1-1)
When: 7:30 p.m. today
Last week: Meadows lost to Prospect 40-7; BG d. Hersey 14-7
Outlook: A pivotal, playoff-type game for both teams. "They're pretty similar to us," said BG coach Jim Farrell. "They hang their hat on playing tough defense. We know it's going to be a tough battle and both defenses can get take-aways." That was crucial last week for BG with five as LB-RB Tyler Juckett also stepped up offensively and Joe Damisch had 11 tackles with 3 for losses. BG will get RB Jimmy Pinakids back this week from a head injury and the status of QB Mike Garrity and S Connor Cheever is still questionable, but junior QB-S Richie Zirngibl made big plays on both sides last week. "He's a heck of an athlete and we know he can get it done," Farrell said. Meadows senior LB Colin Buscarini delivered an impressive performance against Prospect a week after suffering a torn meniscus in his knee. But the offense was limited to 68 yards until the final three minutes and coach Doug Millsaps hopes the running game can get going to help sophomore QB Jack Milas. "We got beat up on both sides of the ball upfront and we didn't catch many," Millsaps said. "Prospect had a level of quickness (Milas) hadn't seen yet and that was the biggest thing, but he's going to be fine." Meadows has won five of six in a series BG leads 13-8.
