Dealer gives Hoffman auto students hands-on experience

Since late August, representatives from Schaumburg Toyota/Scion have been working with senior automotive technology students at Hoffman Estates High School to expand their knowledge of automotive dealerships and the industry in general.

Most importantly, they are working to raise awareness of educational and career opportunities available to students after graduation from high school.

Students have had the opportunity to speak directly with the service manager, sales manager and lead shop technician from Schaumburg Toyota/Scion, one of the largest dealerships in the country.

The HEHS automotive class also received a car on loan from the dealership, and students were assigned to select approximately $5,000 in performance/cosmetic parts for the vehicle.

After the parts arrived, students followed procedures and installed 100 percent of the parts themselves, which gave them the chance to work with the latest technology, combined with the aftermarket and performance side of the business.
