Fremd Homecoming Week starts with Monday's powder puff football game

Fremd High School has the following festivities planned for Homecoming 2010:

• The women of the senior class challenge the women of the junior class to a game of flag football in the annual Powder Puff game, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, in the stadium, 1000 S. Quentin Road in Palatine. Freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior classes and faculty compete in wacky relay races during halftime.

• All of the school's musical groups from the student choir and orchestra will perform to celebrate and promote Homecoming Week at the annual Collage Concert, 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 in the student cafeteria. The public is welcome; there is no admission charge.

• The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the Pep Rally and Rose Arbor in the school's main gymnasium on Oct. 1, immediately following the end of the school day at 2:45 p.m. Highlights of the celebration include the winning faculty member in the pie-in-the-face contest being rewarded, as well as a small group of faculty members in a special dance performance you don't want to miss.

• The Golf Cart Parade, with carts decorated by the school's clubs, is held between the sophomore and varsity football games on Friday, Oct. 1, at approximately 6:30 p.m.

• The varsity Homecoming football game against Hoffman Estates High School kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the stadium.

• "Rock Around the Clock," the Homecoming Dance, will be held 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the school's gymnasium.
